Scholarship Opportunity for Youth interested in Public Speaking

We are happy to announce that we have set the date for the Manchaca Optimist Club Annual Oratorical Contest. The event will be April 9th at 7:00 PM. We are returning to the Travis County ESD #5 Fire Station meeting room in San Leanna, address is below.

Please see the link below for the Application form for any High School students who may be interested in earning Scholarship money by presenting an oratory which they would compose on the topic "How Optimism Has Guided Me Through Trying Times" .

24-25_Club_Oratorical_Application

This form must be completed to enter the contest. It also describes the topic each presenter will use, as well as guidelines that their speech should be between 4 to 5 minutes with penalty for running over or under the time of their talk. I'll remind you that the speakers must open their speech with the topic itself. We require 2 copies of their speech and a copy of their Birth Certificate or proof of citizenship.  

 The top three winners will compete in any other local Optimist competitions. Eventually the top Austin area speakers will be qualified to the state level contest in Houston on May 2nd, There are scholarship amounts awarded at the Club and State levels for speakers earning first through third place.
