Coronavirus and Season Update

Parents,

The Board of MOYSC has been monitoring all orders and recommendations from the Local, State, and Federal Health officials/governments as to how they relate to the continuation and completion of our Spring 2020 recreational season. At this time, subject to GA-18 (April 27) and DHS CISA-v3 (April 17), we are unable to open the complex to practice or play.

However, modifications in mandates are happening consistently and dependent on these we foresee being able to offer modified play in order to complete the season. We feel our plan is the best effort to meet the needs of our families, while also keeping us all safe and supported.

Right now the hope is to start play on June 6 and finish the season mid to late July.  When we do return, the way we play will need to change.  I am working on a committee at MOYSC of health care workers and administrators to define temporary and/or permanent changes to the game and complex guidelines.

We understand that everyone may not want to return for this season, so when we have a concrete date of return we will have three options for all players

  1. Opt-in to play the modified Spring Season
  2. Opt-out to play the modified Spring Season and get a prorated refund of 50%
  3. Opt-out to play the modified Spring Season and donate prorated refund of 50% to MOYSC (This money will be used for general complex maintenance and future scholarships for players that can’t afford to play)

The Board recognizes that this may be vague and many of our families would like something more concrete, however, our mission at MOYSC is to provide children with the opportunity to play baseball and softball.  At this time we aren't ready to give up on that mission.

Thanks,

Jeremy Covert
